Grantland.com has an in-depth piece on Kevin Nash featuring interview quotes from the former world champion.

A notable quote in the article is Nash's thought on Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero winning world championships in WWE in 2004 at WrestleMania.

"When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business," Nash says. "Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I'm sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you're not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That's not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion."

Nash continues his thoughts on "Internet heroes," CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

"They are not bigger than life," he says. "I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt."

Nash also talks about Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Kliq effecting wrestlers pay, his 1995 heel run inspiring the attitude era, working with Tom Cruise and more. Click here to read the full article.

Anyway, Kevin Nash just sounds bitter than he never got a good, final run in WWE. He's in his 50s and has even less mobility than he had when he was being made fun of for being robotic in his 30s.

I really think this is a lot of it. Nash is the type of guy who does stuff to make himself and his buddies laugh.

Yeah I used to take him more serious but if you listen to consecutive interviews he'll give you different answers on the same topics

He's pretty spot-on about a lot of the guys being cookie cutter, and just too small these days.

I do think he says some of this stuff for his own amusement, but hes been pretty consistent on this issue. Most of the old timers would agree with him, I'd guess. Plus the interviewer noted that Nash had 3 bottles of wine during the course of writing this story.

Nash is just an ol' shittalker. Besides, Shawn is a little guy.

Well, I think Beniot did a lot of damage to wrestling but not for these reasons.

Eddie was a bigger draw as WWE champ than Nash was. Things were pretty hot with Eddie on top.

Benoit did hurt the business more than just about anyone up to that point. But, like Duane said, it wasn't because of this reason.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the Double-Murder Suicide by Benoit had a profound effect on me for many months... something that I've dealt with over the years but haven't gotten over, which is why I don't like to discuss it much. I agree that it really effected the business because of the constant negative media coverage that stretched on and on for the rest of that year. It was a dark cloud that has yet to really clear out entirely despite occurring five years ago. I've stated this many times over the years to some of you personally that Benoit was my favorite wrestler for years stretching back to his days in WCW with the Horsemen. So, when this happened, it really struck me emotionally.

One of things that the business, specifically WWE, really misses about Benoit and Eddie were their unique abilities to wrestle anywhere on the card and produce a great match pretty much every time and make their opponents look just as good if not better than them during the match. You look around the the WWE today and it's very difficult to find someone that is as versatile. Eddie brought even more to the table with his humorous antics through vignettes, promos and while wrestling in the ring. Prior to his passing, he was in the process of helping get Mr. Kennedy over as a top mid to top card talent.... and was doing a great job at it. Benoit was doing the same with MVP and was in the works to do that with CM Punk. Their work in the ring was very influential to the product in the WWE.... something that could be very beneficial to the current product now.

Benoit was a huge bomb as Champion I think, Guerrero just lost his mind sadly which caused him to lose the title, would have liked to seen what Eddie would do with the Championship if he didn't die

While I think Nash is stirring some shit, there is some truth to this. Wrestlers now seem petrified of taking chances with their character. Mostly everyone now is either generic, derivative, or boring. And let's face it, when it come to pro wrestling, size does matter and it will always be like that.

Disagreed, Benoit was doing just fine as Champ and the fans accepted him as the Champ. If anything, I feel like his run should have lasted a little longer. I will say that while Benoit was Champ for the most part they built him as a strong Champ and for a 5 month run, it was a pretty good one. When Eddie won the title revenues went up from what I've heard and Eddie is the guy who is responsible for us taking JBL serious as a main eventer.

I enjoyed Benoit and Eddie's title runs. It was really one of my favorite times as a fan of the business since The Monday Night Wars. Remember, Evolution was still kicking too and they were great!

I liked Eddie a lot as champ..Actually liked Benoit as champ too, they really cut his reign short with Orton.

Eddie and Chris were both short guys, but they came across as bigger than Punk and Daniel Bryan..Probably because they were juiced to the gills..But still.. To me, HBK and Bret came across as "bigger" than Punk and DB also.

My thoughts exactly when I read the story. Reading the thread title, I assumed Nash means the murder-suicide and Eddie being a high-profile young death in the business. But ruining the business by becoming champions... don't see it. As many people said in this thread, I enjoyed both title runs at the time.

But then again I'm just an internet mark.

I actually stopped watching wrestling during the Benoit and Guerrero title reigns... I was brought back in when I got bored and stumbled upon a JBL promo

Responses to Nash's comments

Jim Ross -@RealKevinNash ... Don't know what you allegedly said but whatever it was got a rise out of people. Strange, that's SO not you. :)"

Chris Jericho - "Funny how @realkevinnash says wrestling 'died' when Benoit and Guerrero were champs-Yet the worst year for WWE biz was 95 when he was on top"

MVP-"Kevin Nash is right. Smaller guys don't draw. I mean who would pay any money to watch itty bitty guys like Mayweather or Paquiao?"

Nash swiped back at Jericho, writing, "Once again the puppet master pulls the marks strings .Knew Jericho was a closet mark.First one eliminated on a bulls--t singing show...REALLY!!"
