1.Chris Hero vs C.M. Punk 60 Minute Iron Man Match wXw
2.The Miracle Violence Connection(Dr. Death Steve Williams and Terry Bam Bam Gordy) vs Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes WCW 10-3-92
3.The Fabulous Freebirds vs The Von Erichs(David,Kerry, and Kevin) WCCW 1983

The first match was good and started out as alot of mat wrestling before picking up the pace.

The second match was awesome all four of these guys were great and MVC is my favorite tag team.

The third match was apparently the first Freebird-Von Erich match and was good as well man Terry could bump for a big man.

2.Super Vader vs Masahito Kakihara 5-6-94 UWFi
3.Super Vader vs Nobuhiko Takada 4-20-95 UWFi
4.Davina Rose and Sara Del Rey vs Amber O'Niel and Sassy Stephie 5-21-11 BTW

The first match was barely ok with Kyle botching a DDT really badly.

The second match was an impressive squash with Vader displaying his rediculous strength with this vicious wheelbarrow facebuster.

The third match was an awesome shoot-style match I really dig what I've seen of Vader in UWFi.

The fourth match was alot better than I was expecting with all four women doing a good job working as tag teams. Del Rey has some awesome kicks.

The Best of Super Vader in the UWF-i

The following match list was found on www.deathvalleydriver.com forums, and even though I find the majority of the admins on that board pretentious and down-right douchebags, they know their wrestling. I found a tape, unmarked, but inside was the sticker card and written on it was “The best of Vader in UWFi”. It didn’t take me too long to find a match list for this, and the tape was in good shape considering it was probably hanging around here for 5-6 years.

As I don’t do reviews for any dvds I watch anymore I left Tabe’s review as is, and I wholeheartedly agree with him on most things, the bottom line being these matches were for the most part of the hook and Super V was really good, as was takada, and all of his UWFi matches.

Vader vs Tatsuo Nakano, 5/6/93 (Vader debuts in impressive fashion, demolishing Nakano)

Vader vs Kazuo Yamazaki, 8/13/93 (The main event of the best UWFI show ever. This is a terrific match with Yamazaki playing his role of the underdog native perfectly. He cheats and uses little-seen underhanded tactics to try and gain a victory against all odds. And he’s got the crowd with him every step of the way. Vader does his part as well, even getting legit pissed off at a cheapshot from Yamazaki and punching the ref! Great stuff. Rating: ***1/2)

Vader vs Naoki Sano, 10/4/93 (Left off the US PPV of this show because of Vader’s WCW commitments. This is a good one, but one that leaves a bit of a bad taste to me because it comes off as a little too “pro” in style with cooperation that is fairly obvious at times. Still, a fun match overall. Rating: **)

Vader VS Nobuhiko Takada, 12/5/93 (I asked Gene Lydick about this one and he said that Vader was literally scared backstage before this one, as he was totally unsure what to expect from Takada. The resulting match, which drew over 40,000 people, is an awesome spectactle - UWFI Champion vs WCW Champion, with all the attending trappings. UWFI, as they did for all of their heavyweight title fights, makes this seem like an EVENT more than a match and the aura is just incredible. The match itself is fantastic, easily ****. Vader’s arm - as confirmed to me by Lydick, though it’s possible he was lying - was legit injured in this one as a result of Takada’s armbar. That results in a surreal scene after the match with Vader screaming in pain as Lou Thesz somberly announces the result over the microphone. Rating: ****)

Vader vs Salman Hashimikov, 4/3/94 (First round of UWFI’s incredible World Pro Wrestling Tournament. Unfortunately, the styles clash and the results are awful. Rating: DUD)

Vader vs Masahito Kakihara, 5/6/94 (Another 5/6 squash for Vader, this one even more brutal than the year before. Kakihara takes an incredible face-first suplex and ends up getting stretchered out. Vader looks legit concerned for him afterward. Rating: **)

Vader vs Kiyoshi Tamura, 6/10/94 (Fantastic match from another fantastic show. Both guys just lay into each other in a tremendously stiff match. Vader kills Tamura with a powerbomb for the victory. Rating: ***1/2)

Vader VS Nobuhiko Takada, 8/18/94 (What more can be said about this legendary match? This is the first one I mention to people when they ask to be introduced to UWFI. Maybe the stiffest worked match ever, certainly in the top 5, as both guys just throw bombs the entire time. Really an incredible match that gets better with repeated viewings. Rating: ****1/2)

Vader & John Tenta vs Gary Albright & Kazuo Yamazaki, 10/8/94 (The main event from a huge Budokan show, this one isn’t nearly as bad as you’d think. Tenta actually isn’t horrible here and the other three are good enough to make up for his deficiencies. The idea is to set up a Vader vs Albright singles match, which this does. Rating: ***)

Vader & John Tenta vs Gary Albright & Kazuo Yamazaki, 10/14/94 (A rare change in the “one show per month” format that UWFI ran for 4 years. The rematch from the previous week isn’t quite as good, but it’s still fun. Rating: **1/2)

Vader vs Gary Albright, 1/16/95 (Clash of the Titans! Unfortunately, even with both guys being willing, the “monsters” just cancel each other out for the most part and the result is disappointing. This is also Vader’s only successful UWFI title defense. Rating: **)

Vader vs Nobuhiko Takada, 4/20/95 (The little-seen and rarely-talked-about third match in their series. This one starts out wildly, with more “pro” to the match than previously seen. More great stuff from these two as Vader leaves UWFI with another classic under his belt. Rating: ****)

1.Bull Power(Vader) vs Otto Wanz CWA 1990
2.Big Van Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow vs Doom(Ron Simmons and Butch Reed) NJPW 1991
3.Terry Gordy vs Jim Underhill GCW 10-10-81
4.Terry Gordy vs Kevin Von Erich WCCW 11-24-83

First match was a good brawl for the most part. It was weird how there were timed rounds and anytime they'd get in the corner there'd be this announcer screaming at Bull Power to get out of the corner.

The second was a good match all four of these men are really powerful and agile for their size.

The third was a short little mat wrestling match. Man Gordy was all around good he could mat wrestler, brawl with the best of them, be a huge powerhouse, and when he wanted to fly he flew high.

The fourth match was another good back and forth match between these two in the classic Von Erich-Freebird feud. There were some really good quick exchanges between these two and an impressive top rope splash from Gordy.

Just watched: SMASH 18

I didn't know half the people, but they showed a promo for one guy going nuts and tearing out handfuls of his hair, then he showed up for his match with a mohawk and crazy kabuki paint and attacked the other guy with a sword.

SMASH's ring style is weird. They seem to have shorter matches and a less wrestley, more strikey style than I usually like. Some matches end so abruptly it's almost like a let down. Like someone gets suddenly kicked in the head and that's it, they're pinned. Even though they're an indy company, they go for a sports entertainment slant. They set up lots of press conferences to build their matches and do video packages for everything. I think it adds a lot and it's something I don't see other companies do, except maybe ROH for their bigger matches. They go for a more realistic feel than WWE does.

Their roster is also a weird mix of some Japanese indy wrestlers, former WWE people Tajiri is friends with, a bunch of people from some indy company in Finland, and occasionally a Japanese veteran. This show had Funaki (in his Smackdown pants), Ultimo Dragon, and some 61 year old guy. They also have Kana and some other decent joshi wrestlers.

I want to like SMASH, but there's not much I'm into.

Next: Some Paul London thing I downloaded where he's supposed to be drunk and angry.

Now. Wrestling Gold Vol. 3 with alternate commentary from Jim Cornette and Dave Melzer. Just watched The Rock and Roll Express vs Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo. Watching "Dirty" Dick Slater vs. Dory Funk, Jr. Next up will be Harley Race vs. Terry Funk, and I'm going to sleep.

Update. Funk was the World Champ, and Harley beat him for the strap! Great match, what a cool and random DVD!

Just watched: Not five minutes into this shoot thing, Paul London has insisted Dixie Carter is a hot 25 year-old, then headbutted a beer and began bleeding from the forehead. ???

Gave up after half an hour. There was one story about him and Kendrick showering after a match and they turned around to see Michael Hayes staring at them. The rest was all random crazy words.

I love that Wrestling Gold dvd set with the commentary by Cornette ...he gets on my nerves these days but his commentary on that set was great.

ROH “Best in the World” 2011

Filed under: The Pro Wrestling, ROH
Match #1: Colt Cabana vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Match #2: Mike Bennett vs. Jay Lethal
Match #3: Homicide vs. Rhino
Match #4: Steve Corino vs. Michael Elgin
Match #5 for the Ring of Honor Television Championship: Christopher Daniels (c) vs. El Generico
Match #6 for the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. The Kings of Wrestling vs. The All Night Express vs. The Briscoes
Match #7 for the Ring of Honor World Championship: Eddie Edwards (c) vs. Davey Richards

————————-

I think I’m going to refer to this as Ring of Horror. Juggalo Championshit Wrestling is floating around out there, Officer Cabana sounds more entertaining then “Boom Boom”. I’d rather see that Scotty Goldman kid, but a wise man once told me I should look at some of Matt Classic’s greatest matches, and he was right. Who the fuck is Mike Bennett? If the independent promoters don’t have a brain, I’ll give them a clue. Make Jay Lethal the biggest name out there on the indies, right now. Give him all the belts. Indy promoters, make your own “John Cena”. Rhino? Really? Who the fuck is Michael Elgin? Corino and Jacobs, boo hoo! Hey you know what, the longer I have thought about it, I’m glad I saw Christopher Daniels lose the ROH TV Title to El Generico. Now get Daniels’ Chippendale wanna-be ass off my TV. The tag team match was OK. That’s all you need to know about it. The Briscoes should be the new Cuban Assassins. Good bye, Kings of Wrestling, my Kings, goodbye! I’m OK, with Sara Del Ray, but is Shane Hagadorn packing his bags permanently for Boonton? Is Rhett Titus hiding a Thanksgiving turkey in each of his thighs? Or is Kenny King injecting him with that “Addiction to Love”? Maybe Rhett’s great ring-talent is hiding behind his great character. But no doubt, ROH, you better catch the All Night Express! Jim Cornette, just two words, “shut up!” On the subject of cocksuckers, why in the world would you show a picture of THAT guy, and by THAT guy I mean Carey Silkin? Hey Sinclair people! Hey Marks! No, I mean Steve Marks, COO of Sinclair TV. This guy has made more sexual advances then Johnson & Johnson. I don’t want to see him. Speaking of the five senses, I don’t want to hear Kevin Kelly speak, thank you.

The main event pitted two great wrestlers in a battle for one of the most prestigious titles in the wrestling world today. Edwards vs. Richards. The Marine Wolves, tag team partners and friends had a great match, but this match told more of a story before and after the action between the ropes. I will admit, I am not a big fan of guys crying, although I shed a few tears myself after watching this dvd.

But hold on tight, there is a new era on the horizon for Ring of Honor. I have just one wish.

Load a Greyhound bus with all those ROHbot, Ring of Horror fans, and send it careening down the new jersey Turnpike.

Shimmer Vol. 33
Filed under: The Pro Wrestling, SHIMMER
credit diva-dirt.com for the match list and mini-review. Great card, mainly the last three matches.

SHIMMER Volume 33
1. Jessica James & Rachel Summerlyn def. Athena & Bonesaw Jessie Brooks. Rachel and Jessica win with a gory bomb/stunner combo on Athena. Good match by all the girls. Athena was the standout. Her moveset and spoiled brat gimmick is very entertaining.

2. Cat Power def. Jamilia Craft. tCat Power wins via uranage slam. Very slow paced match-up. Not the best showing from either girl, but a decent match.

Amber interviews Jessie McKay but Madison Eagles interferes and takes over the interview. Amber announces Melissa vs Madison for the title. Madison says, “It’s all about ME!”

3. Allison Danger def. Leva Bates. Danger wins via shimmering warlock. After the match Danger puts over Leva and Veronika Vice tries to run in and attack her. Danger asks why she’s here and Veronika says she wants her shot against Danger and challenges her for the next volume.

4. Melanie Cruise def. Taylor Made. Cruise wins via Cruise Control. Melanie completely dominated Made in a total squash match.

Melissa appears on screen and calls out Eagles. Says she’s tired of getting screwed out of the title. Says she going home with gold tonight.

5. Misaki Ohata def. Ariel. Ohata wins by submission. Surpisingly good match. Best I’ve seen Ariel in a long time. Misaki pulled out several submissions during the match-up.

Kellie Skater comes out and challenges anyone in the locker room. Her challenge is answered by Serena!!!

6. Serena def. Kellie Skater. Serena via spear. Skater dominated after Serena misses a spear in the corner, but makes the comeback in the end. The crowd goes wild and chants ‘Welcome back!’ Serena celebrates with the fans and looks very emotional. Very touching moment.

7. Sara Del Rey def. Nevaeh. Del Rey wins via LaBell Lock. Shocker… but Neveah put up a good fight and almost got the win with a Sliced Bread #2.

Amber Gertner is in the ring and introduced Nikki Roxx (who looks great!). Nikki says she’s been in the company for years and wants to get some gold around her waist.

8. Jessie McKay def. Nicole Matthews. McKay via Boyfriend Stealer. Brutal match that spilled to ringside. Best match up so far. Didn’t know these two had it in them.

9. Daizee Haze vs Ayumi Kurihara in a rematch from Vol. 32. It’s announced that the match is no countout. DD’s Jennifer just got into it with Daizee. Epic. Daizee is getting some crazy heat! Kurihara via exploder suplex. Best match of the day so far! Jennifer has dropped about 80 F-bombs. A must see!

10. Ayako Hamada def. Tomoka Nakagawa with the Hamada Driver. Best match so far. Crowd very into both. Lots of hard hitting outside the ring action. Chairs and even water bottles were used in the offense.

11. Madison Eagles def. Cheerleader Melissa with the Hellbound finisher. As Melissa entered she said, “It’s Team Diva Dirt!” Lots of submissions and

2004 War Games Cage Match: Murder 1, Slim J, Gabriel & Altar Boy Luke vs. Todd Sexton, Masada, Rainman & Azrael with Jeff G. Bailey

2003 Team Wildside (Jeremy V, Jimmy Rave, Onyx & Hotstuff Hernandez) vs. The NWA Elite (Rainman, Jason Cross & Iceberg & Justice with Jeff G. Bailey) in the War Games

2002 Adam Jacobs vs. AJ Styles vs. Rick Michaels vs. Rainman vs. David Young vs. Iceberg vs. Scottie Wrenn (Steel Cage Gauntlet Match for the NWA Wildside Title).

2001 War Games: A.J. Styles, Onyx, Air Paris & mystery opponent vs Jason Cross, John Phoenix, Adam Jacobs & Justice

This is just so hard to get thru. Its cool to see Abyss as Justice, and Hernandez, and AJ Styles, but who is kidding who? They suck.

1.Azumi Hyuga vs Amazing Kong JWP 8-26-07
2.Vader vs Nikita Koloff Halloween Havoc 1992
3.Dr. Death Steve Williams and Stunning Steve Austin vs Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham Halloween Havoc 1992

The first match was really good Azumi is awesome with all her high flying and the spider suplex is awesome while Kong is the powerhouse.

The second match was good for how short it was ,but sad since this is the match that ended Koloff's career.

The third match was awesome back and forth and I love Ventura and Ross on commentary.

Next:Curt Hennig vs Jerry The King Lawler AWA 2-21-88

I've been working my way through a 4 disc Gary Hart compilation, which led to me watching Triumph and Tragedy of World Class last night.

I wish I could have met and talked with Gary Hart. I could listen to the guy talk about wrestling for hours.

SHIMMER vol 35

1. Melanie Cruise vs. Jessica James
2. Mercedes Martinez vs. Misaki Ohata
3. Nikki Roxx & Ariel vs. Daizee Haze & Tomoka Nakagawa
4. Allison Danger vs. Veronika Vice
5. Serena Deeb vs. Portia Perez

7. Rachel Summerlyn vs. Sara Del Rey
8. Ayako Hamada vs. Nicole Matthews
9. Cheerleader Melissa vs. Ayumi Kurihara
10. SHIMMER Title Match: Madison Eagles vs. Jessie McKay

Vol 34 has good matches but the last three were best, I guess that's common.

Vol 35 matches 2-10 were all great, this card really had a great flow, had matches that were all different styles and different energy. Nicole Matthews continues to get better, and she looks in better shape here. Portia even has a good match and I don't see why anyone would think Serena Deeb is bad in the ring, She isn't as good as Martinez, or Death Ray, but she holds her own just fine. And she looks pretty cool in her gear too. The joshi contingent wasnt as good because Miyamoto wasn't on either volume, I like her the best. Again I dont do dvd reviews really I just write stuff, and since I cant think of a bad thing to say about SHIMMER and these dvds I guess its just boring for me to say they are really good.
