Captain's Quarters May 20th

Welcome to another edition of The Captain's Quarters with yours truly, Captain FFFFFFFABULOUS. You probably shouldn't expect a doozy like last week's edition. In my defense, I had a lot to get off my chest last week. But have no fear, this is still the place to go to find out how you should REALLY feel about wrestling, and why you should leave what you think are your own opinions behind.

We had a good, solid edition of RAW this week. I think all storylines were successfully taken one step further and there was a really nice atmosphere about the entire show. I want to start out the RAW portion of this week's 'Quarters by making note of the first ever three-on-two handicap Texas Tornado match for both the Intercontinental and WWE Championships. We knew going into the show this week that the one-on-one match between John Cena and Triple H for the WWE Title wasn't going to be what it was announced. We knew there would be some sort of catch to it. Personally, I was looking forward to the one-on-one match, no matter who was going to come out on top. But Vince did something I didn't at all think was going to happen - he made it better. It wasn't just going to be another one-on-one match, it was going to be a handicap match. And above all, all five men were to be allowed in the ring at the same time. Now, I'm a strong believer that the more people you put into a match, the less quality the match can bring. But in this case, we didn't need a spectacular match. What we needed was something new and different, and that's what we got. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't on edge the last few moments of that match. The ending was great, and another perfect excuse for Triple H not to walk out with the WWE Championship. Even though I knew he wasn't going to get the title, they had me believing for a split second that he actually would, and for that, I give major props. It was an overall great segment that I really enjoyed. Plus, we got a new Intercontinental Champion out of the deal. I'm sure this is a setup for Rob Van Dam cashing in his Money in the Bank contract.

Loved hearing from Trish Stratus this week. Anyone who knows this Cap'n knows I'm a larger than life Trish fan, so it's always a real treat to see Trish speak. She always adds her own sense of humor to the speech, and I like that. Mickie also did really well, as usual. And now we have the new Diva, Beth. Are they going to go with calling her Beth Phoenix? Or Beth something else? Or maybe... just Beth? I really don't care what her name will be, I just want to see her character established and I wanna' get her in the ring and see what she can do. And by the way, Trish pulling off the Ma-Trish completely took me by surprise. It won't be long before she's back in action.

Carlito and Maria were great together.

I can't think of much else to say about the Mick Foley/Terry Funk altercation besides "Bravo"! Classic. And did I mention Edge and Lita are perfect together? And I also need to say that Edge is one of the best things to ever happen to WWE. Period.

I've grown from loving to hate the Spirit Squad to just plain loving them.

I'll admit I was upset that there was no Big Show appearance this week. However, I was even more upset that Charlie Haas was nowhere to be found. He'd better be back next week and there had better be a Shelton/Charlie feud in the works for the Intercontinental Championship.

At the end of the night, I was actually starting to wonder if they were going to go through with this DeGeneration-X deal early. I wouldn't have minded, either. But what actually went down wasn't too bad. I've got to believe when it comes back around, Triple H will say he intended to nail Shane McMahon with that sledge hammer the whole time. Watching Vince hold Shane and scream like he were dead was a little odd, especially considering all Shane's been through. Still, I think it made for an interesting end to the evening. It's a good setup for the Chairman finally having enough of Triple H. Now the McMahons can hate both Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and there's your reason for the reformation of D-X. Fighting the man.

Before I move on to SmackDown!, I feel the need to address Team 3D's, or more specifically, Brother Ray's comments on TNA iMPACT! this week regarding the ECW storylines on RAW. I don't have much to say about it. I just want to note that these comments are coming from half the main event from last year's ECW One Night Stand. I smell a desire for attention.

And for the SmackDown! portion.

MNM and London & Kendrick have given us some great stuff the past month or so. I'm not crazy about MNM jobbing so many times in a row to the challengers, but perhaps that's what needed to be done in order for us to take Paul London & Brian Kendrick seriously. Before they started defeating MNM every week, I would have said they didn't stand a chance, but things are looking good for them now. They got another victory over the Champions this week, at least technically. Jillian Hall got the actual pinfall on Melina.

Which brings me to these two ladies. It's high time Jillian and Melina got their chances to shine, and I really like their stuff together. They did great in the six-person tag team match this week on SmackDown!. The crowd loved it when they charged at one another once they were finally tagged in, and so did I. Melina is the perfect heel, and Jillian is obviously loving what she's doing.

I just can't get into Bobby Lashley. He's extremely stale to me. I'm growing fonder of his wrestling, though. I suppose it's just time for a character upgrade. I can't quite see him as a heel. It's those eyes; they're too baby-ish. They make him hard to hate. I'm not quite sure what could be done, but something indeed does need to be.

Gunner who? This is really gonna' take some warming up.

Rey Mysterio was destroyed again this week. This time, however, so was JBL. Kane made his presence felt this week on SmackDown! since the date was May 19th. I thought the whole segment went pretty well and was a nice way to hype Kane's movie. I really hope this means they're keeping the window open so that Kane can go back to being a full-time babyface because that's how I prefer him, but I've got no beef with this storyline to go along with the movie.

I'm reading that there may not be a Draft Lottery this year. Allow me to be the first to utter "HUGE MISTAKE". I sincerely hope plans for a draft have simply been delayed. RAW is doing just fine, but as usual SmackDown! needs some serious superstarage. Right now, a mid-card RAW guy just showed up on SmackDown! and obliterated SmackDown! pay-per-view main event superstars. He was actually the most exciting thing to happen to the blue show since WrestleMania. Think that says something? If it can be done without lowering the quality of RAW, I think it's time to bring some of the red guys over. The Draft Lottery is completely needed this year, more so than last. I'm begging for it.

As for Judgment Day, I probably won't be ordering it. I want to see how Jillian Hall versus Melina turns out, and I'd like to see if Gregory Helms and Supercrazy put on the match I'm expecting. However, I'm not sure it's enough to convince me to fork over 35 bucks. Maybe I'll catch it at a friend's house. I'm so not excited for the show that I can't bring myself to type out a real preview for it, but I'll be back with my thoughts on how it went in next week's 'Quarters. How extensive the review will be is completely based on how good the show goes and if I even watch it.

Thanks for reading. Until next week, this is the Cap'n signing off.

Hmmm. I think I just decided to watch RAW one night and I was instantly hooked. I was a late bloomer, but it's now seven years later and I've not missed a single episode.

While the Racer is Swiss replica watches decorated with an engraving representing a modern formula 1 racing car, the Replica Breitling engineer chronograph Silberpfeil gives life to the mythical cars of Mercedes-Benz. The dial Replica cartier watches decorated with silver beading recalls the legendary Silberpfeil W25, whose cockpit instruments were mounted in a beaded scoreboard. In addition, a former Silberpfeil is engraved on the bottom of the watch.
