Quick results of the debut edition of MMA on Network TV, Elite XC.

-Brett Rogers beat Jon Murphy by KO in round 1: Great way to open the show. A short explosive knockout, makes the fans happy.

- Joey Villasenor beat Phil Baroni by KO in round 1. Baroni's entrance was longer than the match, another short knockout.

- Gina Carano (aka American Gladiators' Crush) beat Kaitlin Young, match stopped by ref. Wow, really good stuff. First time I saw a women's MMA match, and I was surprised. Not sure how I feel about seeing women punch eachother in the face but this was one of the highlights of the show, match of the night up to this point.

- Scott Smith vs Robbie Lawler (c) for the Elite XC Middleweight championship ended in a no contest. This started slow, but really picked up. The crowd never really got into it though. After an accidental thumb to the eye the ref called this a no contest.

- Kimbo Slice beat James Thompson by TKO. Awesome fight, where both men really took it to the other guy. Many people were shocked this lasted longer than 1 minute, let alone 3 rounds. After a few huge punches by Kimbo the ref stepped in and stopped it. At first I felt it was BS, after watching it slow mo I think it was a fair stop. Both guys were almost finished several times during the fight.

I'd say this was a definite success as far as a debut show goes. We'll see what kind of ratings it gets and where Elite XC goes from here as being the first MMA group to land a primetime Network deal.
