WWE Raw/ECW Birmingham, England preview

by Oliver Newman

Hi I'm Oliver Newman I would like to be honest for a minute. Over the last few days I have had reservations about going to this show, even going as far as trying to sell my ticket! I have not watched WWE Raw for around two and half months. Not because of the Wrestlers necessary more to do with lack of TV time for Harry Smith, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin especially.

Well reservations aside, Survivor Series card thus far has me pumped up for the show again and as a special bonus for the readers, as I'm going to WWE/ECW Raw (Birmingham, England) tonight (Sunday 12th November 2006). I thought I would add a preview for said show!

Hope you enjoy!

WWE Raw/ECW Survivor Series Tour

Venue: Birmingham NEC
City/State: Birmingham, England

RAW and ECW PRESENTS

- The WWE Champion John Cena battles Umaga!
- DX collides with "R Rated Superstar" Edge and "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton
- An ECW Extreme Rules Match!

WWE Championship Match

John Cena ? v Umaga (Alejandro) - Whether you love or hate John Cena, you have to respect the man! He has been on his 'A' game in recent months having great matches with HHH (Wrestlemania 22) and recently TLC and Cage matches with Edge (Unforgiven and WWE Raw) for example. Umaga has been equally impressive since debuting in the WWE, currently undefeated and heading into the biggest match of his career tomorrow night! (Hey Austin you got your wish!)

This is Cena's biggest test as WWE Champion to date and Umaga's biggest match in his WWE Raw career, this should be a great battle that is for sure. What role will Umaga's manager Alejandro play (if any) he could be a determining factor on whether or not his client walks away with the WWE Title come bell time tonight!

Can Cena defeat the Samoan Bulldozer? Umaga to pick up the biggest win of his career? Find out tonight live from N.E.C. in Birmingham, England at 7:30pm bell time!

DX vs. Edge (Lita) & Randy Orton - Edge has been incredible in 2006, he has become a big time player in the WWE. Having some excellent matches with Mick Foley (Street Fight at Wrestlemania 22) RVD (Vengeance) TLC and Cage matches v John Cena (Unforgiven and WWE Raw respectively) etc. Orton has been impressive also having excellent matches with Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio to name a few.

Triple H has had an interesting year, from being World Champion to becoming one half of the newly formed DX with Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels has had a very eventful year too, hatred for Vince McMahon produced a classic No Holds Barred match at Wrestlemania 22! Shawn rejoined Triple H in DX and the two have been having a lot of fun again!!

Edge and Orton have been a thorn in the sides of DX over the past month, always sticking their noses in DX's business. They actually hold a pinfall victory over DX as of this past weekend at WWE Cyber Sunday. Add Lita to the mix and the odds are in Edge and Orton's favour to get the win again!

Who will win come Sunday, DX or Orton and Edge? One way to find out be there live at the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England at 7:30pm tonight!

Extreme Rules Tag Team Match

Sabu and Tommy Dreamer vs. Test and Kevin Thorn (Ariel) - Two of the originals v Two of the newcomers! Sabu has been one of the most innovative and craziest Wrestlers in the history of the sport!!! He takes risks that no normal man or woman would take and he is just as the marquee says 'Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal and Defy Defying!' Dreamer has been a mainstay in ECW since the start as well, becoming an ECW legend after his incredible feud with Raven, Dreamer has often been overlooked during his WWE stay but he is back and in a big way, the innovator of violence is doing just that!

Test was on his way to being a huge star in the WWE before things went a little wrong, he's back now and has been incredibly impressive since joining ECW! His match just recently v RVD was a WWE match of the year candidate for sure, a truly excellent match. Kevin Thorn has also been pretty impressive himself undefeated in ECW thus far and take away his strange character and you have a man capable of achieving big things in his Wrestling career! Add Ariel to the mix and just like DX match above this shifts the balance in Test and Thorn's favour.

ECW originals to pick up win or ECW newcomers to take the dupe? Find out live from the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England tonight at 7:30pm!

World Tag Team Title Match

Ric Flair & Roddy Piper ? vs. The Spirit Squad - Experience v Youth and enthusiasm! Ric Flair it can be argued is the greatest Wrestler to ever live! The 16 time World Heavyweight Champion has done it all in the professional Wrestling business, another notch on his belt now he is the co holder of the World Tag Titles! Roddy Piper is another man that has done it all in the Industry, helped future stars (Bret Hart), was one of the biggest stars of the 1980's and it is incredible that both he and Flair can still go!!

The Spirit Squad were much maligned when they debuted on WWE Raw earlier this year, but what people failed to gather was they are extremely gifted Wrestlers in their own right!!! Ken Doane and Johnny Jeter had showed in Ohio Valley Wrestling that they were going to be huge stars one day! Doane in his feud with ECW's CM Punk and Brent Albright and Jeter in his feud with Matt Cappotelli. Don't look past Mitch and Mikey though they are gifted athletes in their own right.

Flair and Piper to retain? Spirit Squad to win the WWE World Tag Titles in Birmingham?
Find out live tonight from the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England at 7:30pm.

Fatal Four Way Match for the Intercontinental Title

Jeff Hardy vs. Nitro (Melina) ? vs. Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin - Can you people say worth the price of admission alone!! Showstealer alert!!! Jeff Hardy has been excellent since his return to the WWE, winning the WWE I.C. Title (Lost it this past Monday on Raw) showing he still has the ability to wow the crowds. Shelton is best Wrestler on the whole of Raw if not the entire WWE! His position on the card and on Raw TV may make you think otherwise but excellent matches with Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle show you Shelton Benjamin is on the road to greatness!!

Carlito is cool and has added some impressive high flying skills to his Wrestling repertoire, involved in some very good matches and is improving every time he steps into the squared circle. Nitro has the one of the most beautiful and deadly women in the WWE in his corner in Melina, and Nitro is the NEW I.C. Champion, he has the skills to be a long and prosperous champ but going up against three of the best Wrestlers in the entire world is a huge test!

Hardy to regain Title he lost six days ago? Carlito to show the fans how 'cool' he looks with I.C. Belt around his waist? Benjamin to show Birmingham fans why he is going to be greatness one day? Nitro to show why he is the Champ? Find out tonight live from the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England at 7:30pm!

Diva Tag Team Match

Mickie James & Torrie Wilson vs. Lita & Victoria - Yes these women are incredibly beautiful! Don't let that fool you though they can kick ass with the best of them. Mickie has been excellent since her debut in the WWE in 2005, showing why she is recognised as one of the best female Wrestlers of the new millennium and one of the best in the entire world, feud and matches with Trish Stratus made me personally care about Women's Wrestling more than ever before! Torrie is just starting to take being a female Wrestler more seriously (after being Eye Candy in the eyes of the fans) and is improving as the weeks go by.

Lita has been a WWE Mainstay for 7 years debuting in 1999 alongside Essa Rios, she has the skills and is well regarded in her own right! Victoria is an excellent Wrestler also, having excellent matches with Trish Stratus including the first ever women's hardcore Wrestling match at WWE Survivor Series 2002!

Look past their beauty and these women will kick ass for your entertainment!! Mickie's Team to pick up the win? Lita's team to take the dupe? Find out live tonight from the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England tonight at 7:30pm

Hardcore Holly vs. Rene Dupree - After battling with that gash (RVD match) on his back Holly made a believer out of me!! An incredibly gutsy performance and he was finally getting the respect he deserved, but when Holly chants happened he viciously attacked Rob Van Dam (this past week on ECW TV), why Holly why? Regardless he is incredibly tough and Dupree is in for the fight of his life!!

Dupree is the youngest ever Champion in the history of the WWE winning the WWE World Tag Titles in 2004 at the age of just 19! You would think that Dupree's career would skyrocket from there! You would be wrong it has stalled as of late and is only beginning to be restarted in ECW!

Holly to show the world why he is a tough S.O.B.? Dupree to get a big win in his young career? Find out tonight live from the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England at 7:30pm!

Cryme Tyme vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. vs. The Highlanders - Cryme Tyme have been involved in some of the best and most hilarious videos the WWE has ever produced!!! They have to be seen to be believed. They are also unbeaten since debuting on WWE Raw winning and stealing an object from their opponents in the process! Lance Cade is one of the most underrated WWE Wrestlers today, he has the skills to be one of the best in the company but the opportunities have not come his way! Murdoch is as tough as they come, he doesn't do pretty Wrestling, he just kicks ass and that is effective enough!

The Highlanders are good Wrestlers in their own right, and are bringing their own type of Tag Team Wrestling to the forefront in the WWE and thus far it is working just fine. Just missing a couple of things before they make an impact on the World Tag Title scene like they promised on debuting in the WWE!

When I started writing this I was like yeah whatever, but damn I have even pumped myself up for this show!! Four way for I.C. Title should be the show stealer and worth the price of admission alone! Sabu will put his body on the line for my entertainment, Dreamer was and is my favourite ECW Wrestler! Looking forward to seeing Jeter and Doane Wrestle live! Women's tag should be great as well, and hopefully they will get respect they deserve for being Wrestlers!
